Blackberries in the Badlands
In the ‘Badlands’, we have managed to control the Blackberries and that’s ongoing. This year the mound we retained yeilds ripe berries. Further along where we cut back Hawthorn, Blackberry and Privet, the sun shone into the grove of damson plums. Since the area was flooded last July, grasses have grown and can be mown in areas once covered by blackberry vines. Still wild and chaotic, our ‘Badlands’ are more like woodlands now.
