Every week these fabulous volunteers wander the gardens to select flowers and foliage that John arranges for Fairfax house and Lynne for the White Cottage Gallery where @artistsoftheroundyard currently have their exhibition, 'Voyager' until Nov 24th. @toniwarburtonartist is s member of the ARY collective and delighted to be showing her 'Siren Song' drawingsi n Voyager.

How lovely to see blessed summer rain from our kit

How lovely to see blessed summer rain from our kitchen window while cooking an early dinner of spagbol and salad.The day began warm and bright, heady with the songs of cicadas: a quintissential Australian summer morning.
By midday, clouds brought rain and by mid afternoon, a summer storm of lightening and thunder directly overhead. (I do wonder if nearby Gingenbullen draws down storms to Sutton Forest)
Our clay soil had begun to harden and close up after a month of dry. This rain made the garden dance. (23 mm on our rain guage from yesterday and overnight)

This morning's wander from the old hawthorn down by the creek, past new plantings, of white lavender and hakia on the slope, self seeded ixias near the back door, lilies, grevileas and more in the old school native plant garden and lavendar, cystus and local lilacs (thanks to a next door neighbour) in the front garden.

Preparing to float on bigger ponds (nardoo returning after winter frosts) Thank you @chris._ward for careful kayak repair and restoration in the dry dock. I bought this kayak from a family friend in 1965. It had been constructed by boat builders on the Lane Cove river. Named 'Pod,' It lived in a Seaforth boatshed on Gadigal land in Powderhulk Bay and took me exploring all around the fascinating inlets, mangrove swamps and waterfalls of Middle Harbour when I was a teenager, then at art school and for years after that until the boatshed was sold and the kayak moved inland to Sutton Forest in Gunundurra country.
